New website

Post by birdman »

Ok guys, after a long time I decided to get myself a new website. With integrated forum, the forum is now based on phpbb3. I apologize for the people who've lost their passwords during the upgrade from phpBB2 to phpBB3. But you can simply click the "Forgot password" link in the login section. The links page will be updated as soon as possible, just linke the ranks etc... btw. now you can also see the new announcements on the index page under (*duh) the announcements image. Just a little extra, you can choose for Dutch in the User Control Panel, if you do this, you'll be able to see the index page in dutch too.

Well I hope you all like it. And Have fun!

Hello,

I'm the new maker of the website, and as a webdesigner I wan't to know if you guys like it! And if you see any errors, feel free to pm me.

Btw. the RSS feed is accessable by clicking the feed logo on the index page, just under the "Latest feeds" box.

Visually he is more attractive. but I believe that now this forum is less functional. for example, the tool “advanced search” does not work correctly. prove you to search “hdtv” and it does not give any answer

When I search for hdtv I found only your post.
When I search for football I see a lot of results.
Did your try some other words?

Oh damn! I'm so very sorry, I forgot to rebuild the search keywords index in the database, I'll do it late in the evening so not much people will experience big slowness of the site. This takes up a couple hours, and is very bandwith eating. I'll post something when i'll begin with it.

We are currently experiencing some problems with the RSS feed, It'll be fixed in a few days. Untill that time, you can go to the mainpage for the latest feeds. The RSS does work, but it's pretty messed up.

I'm gonna Rebuild the searchindex now, so if you experience some site slowness, then you know what causes it.

New style looks lovely but could be a bit more functional.

Example screen shot of the Post here your feed section
(The red horizontal lines and text are to illustrate different screen areas)

Image

The TOPICS area is the part most people are interested in and there is barely a handful on screen at initial page load, you always have to scroll to see them.

My ideas.

Top area with the pretty picture of the satellite could be like half the height, it would still serve its purpose as header but allow more of the actual information from the posts on the screen.

Middle area with the Announcements, if this could be make into a collapsible element (maybe for logged in users only), then this would free up a bit more height for the Topics.

Bottom area, this is the part we are interested in seeing more of ;)

Keep up the good work, and remember poor Feed-Bot is getting restless not being able to post the rss feeds into the chat room.
Triple Dragon, Dreambox 500 and a potato peeler which works better than CIFS sharing.
